05/25/2007	There is a new report, "Graduates by ethnicity", available at the "Other choices" level. Remember, "Other choices" lets you run reports for schools and districts that go beyond our predefined levels. For example, "Other choices" will let you create a report on all of the high schools in the state. "Other choices" also lets you download the results of your search directly to your PC.

10/10/2003	2002-03 California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) data have been released.
09/26/2003	New Report! Graduation Rates based on the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) formula. Data on these reports will be used as part of the AYP reporting requirements. These rates should not be considered actual graduation rates. In order to create an accurate rate you need to divide the number of graduates by the number of students who should be graduating. Unfortunately, we don't have the latter number. Reports are available at the State, County, District and School level.
08/15/2003	2003 AYP Phase I reports are now available. Reports are available at the state, county, district and school levels.
07/24/2003	We've added another subject area! We now have reports on Adequate Yearly Progress. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 has accountability as its key component. Each state is required to develop and implement a statewide accountability system that will ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as defined by NCLB.
07/23/2003	Another report under English Learners has been updated. It's the "Time Series - Redesignation 1996-2003. This report is at the district level only. You can find this report under the English Learners subject - district level.
07/21/2003	2002 PAIF data have been slightly updated. There were three "Distance Learning" records removed from the staff file. The update affects only one district (4770466) and lowers the statewide teacher FTE counts by 1.33 and the teacher count by three.
07/21/2003	2002 API Base data have been updated. There are new reports designed for districts and for ASAM schools.

05/09/2003	Thanks to John Haskell of the City and County of San Francisco Controller's Office for finding an error in our 1993-94 and 1995-96 dropout data for San Francisco County. The errors have been located and corrected.

02/18/2003	We have updated the Achievement Summary reports found under the Stanford 9 Test Results subject area. These reports show the number of students tested and the percent scoring at or above the 50th National Percentile Ranking (NPR) by program participation, gender and ethnic designation.

07/18/2002	DataQuest has a new subject area! We are now offering reports on the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) Test Results. To access the reports choose "High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE)" as the subject. There are several reports to choose from and they are available at the state, county, district and school levels.
07/02/2002	New report! You will find a new report under the "Course Enrollment" subject area and "Other choices" level. This one lets you find schools or districts based on types of courses offered. For example, you can find all schools offering voice classes. In addition, you can filter your request by county, type of school or district (for example all high schools in Los Angeles County that offer Advanced Placement Spanish.)

04/09/2002	We've designed some new reports on dropouts! The first new report is a time series report that displays the one-year dropout rate over time. The second new report lists dropouts by grade. Finally, we have designed a dropouts by ethnic designation report for the "Other choices" level. Remember, "Other choices" lets you run reports for schools and districts that go beyond our predefined levels. For example, "Other choices" will let you create a report on all of the high schools in the state. "Other choices" also lets you download the results of your search directly to your PC.
04/03/2002	New enrollment figures! K-12 public school enrollment for 2001-02 has been posted!
01/30/2002	The 2001 Language Census data file has been updated. Unedited data from some of California Youth Authority (CYA) schools were inadvertently included in the 2001 data. According to legal advice, we are not collecting language census data from CYA schools. Therefore, we have deleted the data for these schools.

05/30/2001	Please take note of the following change. Prior to 1999-00, "department chair" assignments were counted as teaching assignments. Upon reflection, we realized that these assignments are not teaching assignments but rather administrative assignments. The data have now been updated to reflect this change and as a result you may notice that the number of teachers and administrators (for prior years) has changed slightly.

03/29/2001	We have some new reports under the Stanford 9 Test Results subject area. During the annual Stanford-9 test administration, student data are coded by the district for each test taker. The information collected includes program participation and demographic data, such as gender and race/ethnicity. The Program Achievement Summaries display the 2000 Stanford-9 test results for various groups of students. The summaries are based on the performance of individual pupils on Stanford-9 content area tests as measured through national percentile rankings (NPRs). The report displays for the percent of students scoring at or above the 50^th percentile. The Achievement Summaries are available for the state, county, district, and school levels.

11/27/2000	QuickQuest has been expanded!. We've added an English Learners subject area to QuickQuest. For those of you who have wanted to find schools or districts that have English Learners of a specific language this is your ticket! When you go to QuickQuest use the dropdown at the top of the screen to select "English Learners," then press the "Go" button to refresh the screen. Follow the directions on the screen to create a query, then press the "Submit" button to see your results. Have fun!

10/19/2000	A new report has been added! Under the staffing subject area we now have a report that lists the number of pupil services staff by type. Now you can find the number of librarians, nurses, counselors.... in our schools and districts.
10/12/2000	We've added a new level (Other choices)! People (like you) had asked to get the DataQuest reports for groups of districts and schools beyond the predefined levels - so we did. Not all subject areas have reports that will run with the new level, just enrollment, English learners, staffing and course enrollments. What does this mean? Well, now you can get reports for all the schools in the state (or a county), all the districts in the state (or county) and you can select the type of schools or districts that appear on the report. Not only that, but get this....you can download the data! You really must tell me how you like it.....

09/08/2000	Correction! We discovered an error in the way teachers and administrators were counted for the 1999-00 staffing reports. The problem has been fixed but if you've run staffing reports prior to this date your numbers will not match DataQuest. This error did not affect full-time equivalent (FTE) calculations.
09/08/2000	We have designed another version of the API Report. Now there is a county list of schools report. Yep, that's right, you can get a listing of all the schools in a county along with their API scores!

Test scores are listed for a single subject area by grade level. Depending on the level you choose you can see test scores for all counties in the state -or- all districts in a county -or- all schools in a district, all on the same page! Just like the rest of the reports in DataQuest, you get state, county and district results on the bottom of the page (where applicable).

04/07/2000	System improvement?!!? We've changed the way DataQuest searches for districts and schools. Now, when you type in a district or school name, the database returns records that match what you've typed in any portion of the name. Is that clear as mud? Well, here's an example let's say you want to find a school called Harte (Brett) Elementary, if you type in "hart" not only will you get Harte (Brett) Elementary, but you will also get Brett Harte Elementary and every other school with "hart" in the name like Oak Valley Charter. Let us know how you like it....

We have number and percent of Students redesignated from English Learner (EL formerly LEP) to Fluent-English Proficient (FEP) from 1996-99. This report is at the district level only. Plans are in the works to expand it to the other levels. You can find this report under the English Learners subject - district level.
02/15/2000	New data about English Learners! Now you can find number and percent of Students redesignated from English Learner (EL formerly LEP) to Fluent-English Proficient (FEP) since the last Language Census. These data are not available by language. You can find it under the "English Learners" subject or under "Select your own data".

12/08/1999	There is a new subject area in DataQuest. We've included Stanford 9 Test results. So what's the big deal you may ask, lots of sites have Stanford 9 test results. Well, not like DataQuest! We list test results for a single subject area by grade level. Depending on the level you choose you can see test scores for all counties in the state -or- all districts in a county -or- all schools in a district, all on the same page! Just like the rest of the reports in DataQuest, you get state, county and district results on the bottom of the page (where applicable). For example, if you choose a district level report you will see the test results for all of the schools in the district and at the bottom of the report you will see the district level test results, county level test results and the state level test results. Give it a try!
12/03/1999	QuickQuest has been expanded!. We've added a new subject area to QuickQuest. Now you can find districts or schools based on teacher data. This feature lets you view lists of districts or schools with the number of teachers listed...but wait, that's not all! You can get listings of districts and schools by teacher credential so now you can find all the districts or schools who have teachers with emergency credentials or teachers on waiver. Pretty neat huh?
11/10/1999	QuickQuest has been improved. At the top of the search results page we've added the number of districts or schools returned by the request and the enrollment total (based on the search criteria).
